I had so much fun doing this wedding! First let me start by saying that their April Wedding day didn’t seem much different from their Engagement Session day in November…except the trees were more green in color than brown, but you know what i mean. It was cold, cloudy & windy! Here’s a pic from their engagement session, since my blog wasn’t around for that.

BUT wouldn’t you know it…the weather turned out to be pretty much perfect! I mean, the sun literally came out as we were walking up the steps to take photos at the Arch. I love when that happens! Plus, the Arch is so much prettier in photos with a bright blue sky behind it (see what I mean?). This was also my first spring wedding after a somewhat crazy fall & winter; & let me tell you, it was a refreshing re-start.
The girls got ready at Kelly’s sister’s house – which i love because they can have their stuff sprawled out everywhere & they can run around in their comfies while getting ready – so relaxed & fun! & this dress was unlike any I have ever seen before…of course there was some bling around the waist-line & the skirt was rows of little mesh layers with a strip of gems between them. The train was so full & flowy – it was very springy & elegant.

They were married at St. Paul UCC. The beautiful stained-glass windows & unique shape of the church created such an intimate & cozy atmosphere for their beautiful ceremony. I was instructed to stay in the back & only use the light available to me during this service, but i think it worked out great…sometimes being limited is also a way of challenging me to try new things & look at situations differently.

After getting all of the family photos we headed to the Arch for the fun wedding party photos (this is admittingly one of my favorite parts of the day!). Kelly really wanted to do the photos downtown because that is where Duane proposed, & I’m very glad we did. Even though there were other wedding parties & LOTS of high schoolers in crazy prom clothes (it seems a lot different from when I was in high school & that would be something I’d like to photograph some day), we were still able to get plenty of shots with no one else around.
I LOVE how these turned out!
Then of course we had to head over to The Patch – a bar owned by a friend of the bride & groom. It was a really cool looking, old bar & they were able to do pretty much whatever they wanted.
Finally we made it to Turner Hall for the reception. What a fun crowd! Lots of people were out dancing & having fun celebrating with the new Mr & Mrs. Bequette. Their cake was one of my favorites! The cake was white & topped with two porcelain doves – which made the whole thing look porcelain. Again, unlike anything I’ve ever seen & I think it was made by a mom of one of the bridesmaids.
All in all, it was a beautifully perfect wedding day, full of lots of Love, sweetness, fun & even sunshine! Thanks again for inviging me to share in your special day Duane & Kelly!
